Reason:
Well water often contains Iron, which may leave stains that are hard to remove. When these deposits break loose from water piping, rusty water will flow through the faucet.
When iron exists along with certain kinds of bacteria, a smelly biofilm can form. To survive, the bacteria use the iron, leaving behind a reddish brown or yellow slime that can clog plumbing and cause an offensive odor. The Iron bacteria are considered to be harmless, but they can create conditions where other disease-causing organisms may grow. The organisms occur naturally in shallow soils and groundwater, and they may be introduced into a well or water system when it is constructed or repaired.
When iron and oxygen react with water, it creates a chemical reaction called oxidation. Oxidation produces iron oxide - rust.
If the problem is left unaddressed, rust will eventually eat away at the metal until it completely disintegrates.

Dissolved calcium salt (as well as magnesium) in the water flows through showerheads and faucets gradually forming a white crusty-looking build-up, called lime scales that are really hard to clean away.
